At Italian Continental Stores (The Italian Shop) in Maidenhead, we hosted a special screening of Suburra, a dark and gritty look into the side of Rome people dont usually know about.
Cinema Night at The Italian Shop: Suburra
Our Italian Cinema Nights are back, and this time we headed into the darker side of Rome with Suburra.
Directed by Stefano Sollima, Suburra is a gripping Italian crime thriller set in Rome, where politics, organised crime, business and the Church become tangled together over an ambitious development project. As different worlds collide, alliances are tested and events quickly spiral out of control.
Released in 2015 and inspired by the novel of the same name, Suburra offers a very different view of the Eternal City. Forget the postcard images of the Colosseum, fountains and cobbled streets — this is a tense, atmospheric Rome filled with power struggles, corruption and crime.
It’s fast-paced, stylish and uncompromising, making it a brilliant choice for our latest Italian Cinema Night.
As always, our cinema nights are about more than simply watching a film. They’re an opportunity to bring people together, celebrate Italian cinema and culture, and enjoy something a little different right here in Maidenhead.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for another fantastic evening at The Italian Shop. We love seeing these nights continue to grow and sharing some of Italy’s most memorable films with our local community.
Keep an eye on our social media and website for details of our next Italian Cinema Night.
Grazie a tutti e ci vediamo al prossimo film! 🇮🇹🎬
