Last night (30/6/26), we welcomed another fantastic audience to The Italian Shop for our latest Italian Cinema Night, where we screened the powerful and unforgettable film I Cento Passi (One Hundred Steps).
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a warm and engaging atmosphere. It’s always a pleasure to bring people together through Italian culture, and evenings like these remind us why our cinema nights have become such a special part of our community.
A Story That Leaves a Lasting Impression
I Cento Passi tells the true story of Peppino Impastato, a courageous Sicilian journalist and activist who challenged the influence of the Mafia despite growing up in a family closely connected to it. The film takes its name from the hundred steps separating his home from that of the local Mafia boss, a powerful reminder that extraordinary courage can begin right on your own doorstep.
The screening sparked plenty of conversation afterwards, with many guests reflecting on the film’s themes of justice, integrity, and standing up for what is right. It’s a remarkable piece of Italian cinema that continues to resonate with audiences around the world.

Our Italian Cinema Nights are about much more than watching a film. They are an opportunity to experience another side of Italy: its history, storytelling, and rich cultural heritage.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to support these events. Seeing familiar faces alongside first-time visitors makes each screening even more rewarding, and we’re delighted that our cinema nights continue to grow.
