When Chef Luigi steps behind the pan at The Italian Shop, it’s never just cooking…it’s a show!
On Tuesday 21st July, we welcomed another fantastic crowd to The Italian Shop Maidenhead for the latest edition of Chef Luigi’s Live Cooking Show.
This month’s recipe was a beautiful summer classic: Mezze Maniche with Prawns & Courgette, brought to life with fresh courgettes, succulent prawns, fragrant saffron, garlic, extra virgin olive oil and a splash of white wine. It was a simple yet elegant dish that perfectly showcased how authentic Italian cooking is all about quality ingredients and uncomplicated techniques.
Guests gathered around as Chef Luigi demonstrated every step of the recipe, sharing the little tips and tricks that make such a difference when cooking at home. From gently sautéing the garlic to creating a silky saffron sauce using pasta water, everyone had the opportunity to learn the authentic methods used in Italian kitchens.
Of course, the best part came at the end!
Everyone enjoyed tasting the finished dish alongside a carefully selected glass of wine, giving guests the chance to experience how the flavours worked together while chatting with fellow food lovers in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Don’t overcook the pasta. Finish cooking it in the pan with the sauce so it absorbs all those incredible flavours. A little lemon zest at the end makes all the difference.
